What You Can Expect

We understand that visiting a church for the first time can be an awkward experience.  Below we hope to provide answers to regularly asked questions, so that your visit with us will be enjoyable.

Tell me about Grace Presbyterian Church

Grace Pres. is a church plant of the Presbyterian Church in America.  We emphasize God's grace.  We began our first public worship on March 7, 2010.

Where and when does Grace meet?

We meet at 9:30 Sunday mornings at Greenbrier Christian Academy at 311 Kempsville Rd, Chesapeake, VA 23320.

Visitor's Tip: Our entrance is on the left-hand side of the building.

Is there childcare?

Yes, we offer a nursery for ages 12 weeks up to 3 years old during our service by our safety-trained volunteers. The nursery is located upstairs (door on the right beyond auditorium) in a carpeted classroom on the right.

What about older kids during the service?

We love kids, and believe they can worship God too.  We invite all to join us during our worship service, and we offer Children's Church during the sermon.  Teachers will wait in the back of the auditorium to lead the children to a classroom upstairs for an age-appropriate bible lesson.  They will be returned to the auditorium by the teachers before communion.  Children's Church is geared for kids ages 3 through 1st grade and is optional.

What's our music like?

Our music draws on the best of contemporary and traditional songs.  We aim to balance joy and reverence, and depending on the week, we will use guitars, mandolin, piano, and drums/percussion.

What else can I expect in the worship service?

Our worship service will typically include 6-7 songs, prayers, an offering, announcements, a sermon, and communion each week.

Will guests be singled out during the service?

No, but we do ask everyone, whether a guest or regular, to fill out our "pew pads," although we have comfy chairs and not pews.  This is an optional way for guests and regulars to connect with us.

What happens after the service?

We offer excellent bagels and fairly decent coffee in the cafeteria.

What about Christian Education?

We offer classes from 11:15 to noon.  We offer two adult classes in the auditorium, a high school class upstairs, a middle school class upstairs, upper and lower elementary school classes in the cafeteria, and, of course, nursery.
